What is an APE Calessino?

Who designed it?
Corradino D’ascanio the aircraft designer, and inventor of the Vespa, came up with the idea of building a three-wheeled commercial vehicle back in 1947.
The main goal of this invention was to improve Italy’s economical reconstruction post-war.
This major invention provided a much-needed economic boom to Italy, not only did Italy benefit from this but also the entire world which still is able to make many people happy.
Why the name APE?
“APE” which is meant to be pronounced as (AH-pay), in Italian means “bee”, was given to the motor vehicle due to the work ethics of the vehicle, ad if it was the working bee at the time.
Since 1948
The first line of production of the APE was made back in 1948. Almost 72 years later the same design is still being produced with a few tweaks here and there, but mostly with improving their motor.
The “Calessino”
One year after its introduction in the market of APE, the Calessino was launched, and its design was made to transport four people and not goods as its previous brother.
What makes the “Calessino” so unique?
